Sales Representatives

Duties:

  • telephone or personally visit client organizations on a regular or periodic basis,
  • find out what client organizations need and emphasize how our product lines can meet those needs,
  • identify possible new clients by using resources such as business directories, following up leads from existing clients,
  • approach potential new clients and present the benefits and uses of our product lines,
    estimate or quote prices, credit terms, warranties and delivery dates and prepare sales proposals,
  • use computers to prepare sales contracts, reports,  and make delivery arrangements,
  • consult with clients to resolve any problems after a sale and provide ongoing support, and
  • keep up to date with information about product innovations, competitors and market conditions and adjust their sales strategies accordingly.

Skills:

Sales representatives need the following characteristics:

  • self-confidence and assertiveness,
  • the ability to persevere and remain cheerful even when faced with setbacks,
  • flexibility and adaptability,
  • the ability to communicate with all kinds of people, and
  • the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

They should enjoy selling goods or services, identifying and approaching potential customers, and overseeing the preparation of sales contracts.

Warehouse Personnel

Duties:

The work is physically demanding. Warehouse Personnel are on their feet all day, and will be required to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds. 

  • fill and pack orders,
  • receive shipments (ensure that they are complete and in good order),
  • identify and assign locations or parts numbers to items,
  • handle and store products (use equipment to move items and place them in appropriate storage areas or bins),
  • clean and maintain storage areas and handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks),
  • schedule deliveries and shipments (schedule items for delivery and co-ordinate the delivery of products to end users),
  • re-arrange storage areas to adapt to changing requirements, and
  • recognize and respond to changing customer demands.

Skills:

To be successful, warehouse personnel need:

  • manual dexterity and physical stamina,
  • the ability to work independently,
  • good math, communication and organizational skills, and
  • the ability to get along well with customers and fellow workers.

This type of work appeals to people who enjoy taking a methodical approach to their work, operating handling equipment, and keeping detailed records.

Receptionist

Duties:

  • answer, screen and forward telephone calls, 
  • take messages and provide information, 
  • organize and file paperwork, 
  • maintain a current record of staff members' whereabouts, 
  • accept messenger and courier deliveries, and 
  • perform other clerical duties such as word processing, 
  • compiling and recording data, maintaining files and inventories,
  • operating office equipment, sorting mail, stuffing envelopes or proofreading. 

Skills:

  • good verbal and written communication skills, 
  • good listening skills, 
  • a friendly, outgoing personality, 
  • the ability to keep calm when it gets busy or callers are persistent or rude, 
  • computer experience and knowledge of general office procedures, 
  • tact and exceptional telephone etiquette, 
  • good organizational skills, 
  • a genuine interest in people and in helping others, and 
  • the desire and ability to work with little supervision when dealing with routine matters.

Stocking Personnel - must be bondable

Duties:

The work is physically demanding. Stocking Personnel are on their feet all day, and will be required to lift items weighing up to 60 pounds. 

  • stocking supplies at customers locations,
  • keeping track of levels and usage of supplies,
  • deliver and stock orders for the customer quickly and professionally,
  • recognize and respond to changing customer demands,
  • help the warehouse staff with warehouse duties,
  • drive vans and large trucks.

Skills:

  • manual dexterity and physical stamina,
  • the ability to work independently,
  • the ability to get along well with customers and fellow workers,
  • be courteous and efficient,
  • a friendly, outgoing personality,
  • good organizational skills.
